Overview Social Studies Teacher 2024-2025 School Year Job Summary To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. JOB TITLE: Teacher Essential Functions Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Maintain accurate records of all students. Develop schemes of work and lesson plans. Utilize effective classroom management techniques. Work collaboratively with building administration, teachers, parents/guardians and students. Establish an effective rapport with students assigned. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs. Utilize technology to support instruction. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students. Manage student behavior. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal, including presentations. Ability to use basic, job related equipment. Be self-motivated. Flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances and a diverse group of individuals. Knowledge of NCLB (No Child Left Behind), FERPA and other federal, state and local guidelines. Passionate about improving urban public education and devoted to making a difference.
